HAND-BUILDING POTTERY
Handbuilding is a ceramics technique that allows you to create forms using clay with your hands and simple tools — no throwing wheel needed! This technique is excellent for building forms with intricate details and organic shapes.
Our beginner-friendly classes are two hour guided sessions with our experienced instructor Alex Meltzer, who will walk you through the process of creating beautiful forms with clay.
All ages are welcome, but we ask attendees 12 and under have a parent/guardian attend the class with them. No prior experience is expected of you — just your creativity and some clothes you don’t mind getting dirty!
Classes include:
- All materials needed to create your own unique piece.
- All instruction and guidance needed to create your pieces.
Classes are about 2 hours. Starting times:
Tuesdays: 10am, 12pm, 2pm
Thursdays: 10am, 12pm, 2pm, 5pm
Fridays: 12pm, 3pm, 5pm
Saturdays & Sundays: Available upon request.
If these time slots do not work for you, please reach out and we will see if we can accomodate.
Our team will glaze and fire your pieces and notify you when they are ready for pick up (estimated 2 weeks from class date). Note, while we will handle your pieces with utmost care, there is always a risk of cracking or blistering during kiln firings.
